Every year, over 41,000 people from all walks of life are newly-diagnosed with breast cancer. To bring to life the effect the disease has on people, Breast Cancer and Boots launched a nationwide search for photos of people touched by breast cancer.
The powerful campaign has received a terrific response, but in order to demonstrate the true scale of breast cancer across the UK, more photos are needed.
Why we created the ‘41,000 Faces’ campaign
Although the biggest risk factor for breast cancer is age (the older you are, the higher your risk), breast cancer can affect people at any point in their lives, regardless of social, cultural or ethnic background. Breast Cancer Care and Boots wanted to show the scale of breast cancer in Britain– how many lives and how many faces are affected by a diagnosis of breast cancer.
Get involved
If you or someone close to you has been touched by breast cancer, we want to hear from you! All you need to do is send in a photo of yourself (any photo will do) and answer a question about breast cancer treatment and care. For every photo sent in, Boots will make a donation to Breast Cancer Care. Your photo will be added to the virtual ribbon to help demonstrate the true face and scale of breast cancer.
